In a significant development for Chhattisgarh’s tourism landscape, a seasoned politician and former Tourism Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agrawal has been reappointed as the Minister of Tourism in Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s cabinet. The allocation of portfolios to the newly inducted ministers on December 29, 2023, saw Agrawal also take charge of School Education, Higher Education, Culture, Parliamentary Affairs, and Dharmik Nyas (religious trust) and Dharmsva departments.
Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Mr. Agrawal highlighted the alignment of ministerial assignments with the qualifications of each minister. With a focus on leveraging Chhattisgarh’s tourism potential, the BJP government aims to contribute to the state’s development.
Brijmohan Agrawal, a stalwart in Chhattisgarh politics, now shoulders responsibilities for Higher Education, School Education, Tourism, and Religious and Cultural Affairs. In his political journey that began in 1977, Agrawal has been a consistent winner, securing victories in six consecutive elections. His long-standing association with Raipur South, where he has been the MLA since 1990, underscores his deep-rooted connection with the region.
Brijmohan Agrawal’s portfolio history includes significant roles such as Cabinet Minister for Home, Prison, Culture, and Tourism in 2003. Subsequently, he held key positions in various ministries, demonstrating versatility and leadership acumen. In his current role, Agrawal is poised to make significant contributions to the development of tourism and cultural heritage in Chhattisgarh.
The visionary minister is not only committed to promoting tourism but also to advancing Ayurveda in the state. He announced the establishment of Chhattisgarh’s first Ayurveda University, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on Ayush and Ayurveda. Mr.Agrawal emphasized the recognition of Ayurveda’s efficacy, citing its historical relevance and its role in saving lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.
