Diageo India elevated Ruchira Jaitly as the new Chief Marketing Officer

The liquor major Diageo India has elevated and appointed Ms. Ruchira Jaitly as the Chief Marketing Officer. Ms. Ruchira Jaitly has taken charge of the new responsibility from August 1, 2023, at a time when the alcohol beverage maker has accelerated its innovation and long-term strategies with a focus on sustainability as the industry leverages post-pandemic shifts in consumer behavior like drinking less but drinking better.

Ms. Ruchira Jaitly will be overseeing Marketing and Innovation for the company’s alcohol and beverage portfolio. Ruchira is an experienced marketer who has played a pivotal role in building leading consumer brands over the last 25 years. She has over two decades of experience in Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Innovation, Business, Start-Up, Impact Business Creation, and in Market Consumer & Customer Engagement at PepsiCo India, Nokia Devices, Royal DSM, and Unilever.

Ms. Ruchira Jaitly, who is currently EVP of marketing – at Diageo India, started her career with Unilever, as a management trainee who worked in Sales in the challenging areas of Western UP and Rajasthan for Personal Care Products and then grew into Brand Activation and Brand Strategy and Innovation roles in the Hair Care category.

Like her predecessor at Diageo, Deepika Warrier, Jaitly is also a PepsiCo hand, where she built some of the biggest brands for PepsiCo in India, like Kurkure and Mountain Dew. She was responsible for creating scale award-winning consumer campaigns (Crash the Pepsi IPL, Kurkure launch, and Lay’s Flavor World Cup) and harnessing India energies for innovations (Nimbooz Masala Soda and Lays and Kurkure formats and flavors) and leveraging global playbooks to bring alive brands from Pepsi, 7UP, Mountain Dew and Mirinda to Lays and Cheetos.

As senior director of marketing for PepsiCo Beverages, she managed the entire portfolio of Bev brands and also delivered Pepsi IPL, the biggest consumer and customer activation for Pepsi ever, in India and in the Middle East (2014).

Jaitly began her career as a management trainee at Hindustan Lever (now Hindustan Unilever). The demanding sales assignment took her to markets such as Western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan for selling the personal care products portfolio of the consumer goods major.

She quickly advanced to brand activation and innovation and was part of the team that first introduced Sunsilk’s extension into hair colour in India. At PepsiCo, Jaitly’s experience straddled the portfolio across beverages and snacks by managing brands like Mountain Dew and Kurkure respectively.
