Mr. Saroop Roy B.R., an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce at the Kerala Institute of Travel and Tourism Studies in Thiruvananthapuram, has been conferred with a Doctorate in Management Studies by the University of Kerala.
Prior to his role as an Assistant Professor at KITTS, he held the position of State Coordinator at Equations, a prominent Non-Governmental Organization based in Bangalore, India, for an extended period. He also played a pivotal role in launching the Responsible Tourism initiatives of Kerala Tourism and continues to serve as the Coordinator of the Centre for Responsible Tourism at the Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies.
Additionally, Mr. Saroop served as a management trainee and faculty member in Travel and Tourism at the Institute of Management in Kerala under the University of Kerala. He is renowned as an author and academician in the field of tourism and co-authored the book “An Introduction to the Business of Tourism” with Dr. Venu Vasudevan IAS, the current Chief Secretary of Kerala, and former Principal of KITTS, Dr. B. Vijayakumar.
Mr. Saroop holds an Engineering degree from Mar Athanasius College in Kothamangalam and completed his Master of Tourism Administration from Kerala University. He is the son of the late AD Rajagopal and Baby Sarojam. His wife, Ms. Bindu S Kumar, serves as a teacher at HSST GHS Azhoor.
