As the global travel and tourism industry eagerly anticipates the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Dubai 2024, scheduled from May 6th to 9th, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), one destination stands out poised to leave a lasting impression – Goa, India. Renowned for its pristine beaches, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant communities, Goa is set to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable tourism at ATM Dubai 2024 under the theme: Transforming Travel Through Entrepreneurship.
The Goa Tourism Pavilion at ATM Dubai will showcase sustainable initiatives aligned with the Regenerative Tourism approach, focusing on pillars such as hinterland exploration, restoration and preservation of heritage sites, the journey towards spiritual tourism, and more. Highlights include the Ekadasha Teertha circuit comprising 11 temples and the exposition of St. Francis Xavier at the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa, scheduled to take place from November 21st, 2024, to January 5th, 2025, marking a rare event after a decade.
Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director Tourism & Managing Director GTDC, expressed, “The Goa Tourism pavilion will reflect the traditional, historical significance, and rich cultural heritage of Goa under Regenerative Tourism. Approximately 17 co-exhibitors, including tour and travel operators and wedding planners, will join us to showcase various offerings. Our focus will be on promoting MICE tourism and introducing the Wedding in Goa policy. Through these initiatives, we aim to attract quality tourists and foster tourism within GCC countries. With the support of the Indian Embassy in Dubai, UAE, we aim to engage with the global Goan community and promote Goa as a sustainable tourism destination.”
From May 6th to May 9th, 2024, visitors to the Goa Pavilion at ATM Dubai (Stand No: AS7259) will experience an immersive showcase highlighting pioneering initiatives in sustainable tourism. The concept of regenerative tourism will take center stage – an approach that actively restores and replenishes natural and cultural resources while uplifting local communities.
Mr. Rohan A Khaunte, Minister of Tourism, Government of Goa, and other dignitaries will grace the Goa Pavilion alongside co-exhibitors from leading industries. As the first state to launch Regenerative Tourism, Goa exemplifies sustainable and responsible tourism practices, aligning with ATM Dubai’s 2024 theme.
Goa Tourism’s participation at ATM Dubai extends beyond showcasing cultural and spiritual treasures; it’s about advocating for sustainable practices that benefit the environment and local communities. Through interactive exhibits, discussions, and immersive experiences, the state aims to inspire travellers to embrace responsible tourism, contributing to the long-term well-being of our planet.
