Jamaica is set to host the Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2024, marking the 42nd edition of the event organized by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA). Scheduled to take place at the Montego Bay Convention Centre from May 20 to 23, 2024, this year’s marketplace promises an array of new features and three specialized tracks, ensuring an even more dynamic and engaging experience for all attendees.
During a press briefing at the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), Nicola Madden-Greig, President of CHTA, highlighted the expansion efforts targeting buyers from Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Asia. “We will also have for the first time a complete stand-alone MICE itinerary with 20 meeting planners attending the first ever CHTA Caribbean MICE exchange,” she mentioned.
Madden-Greig emphasized the significant potential of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) region market, citing its over US$900 billion revenue generation worldwide in 2023, projected to double by 2032.
The 42nd CHTA Caribbean Travel Marketplace will comprise three key components: the Business of Tourism (The Caribbean Travel Forum on May 20), the Marketing of Tourism (CHTA Travel Marketplace on May 21-22), and the Community of Tourism (Responsible Tourism Day on May 23).
The marketplace offers tourism suppliers the invaluable opportunity to engage directly with wholesalers from across the globe who specialize in Caribbean vacation travel. Its primary objective is to facilitate negotiations that mutually benefit the region.
In a significant move, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) will introduce the inaugural Marketplace Responsible Tourism Day during this year’s Caribbean Travel Marketplace on May 23 in Jamaica. This groundbreaking event is dedicated to advancing sustainable tourism, focusing on benefiting local Jamaican communities.
