Kerala Emphasizes Alignment of Tourism Projects with Current Trends

The revamped Samudra Kovalam, the beachside resort managed by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC), which now boasts an array of world-class features, was inaugurated by Mr. PA Mohamed Riyas, Minister for Tourism, Govt of  Kerala.

Mr. Riyas highlighted the state government’s commitment to ensuring that beach tourism projects resonate well with contemporary demands that involve harnessing the vast potential of this niche segment and elevating hospitality standards,.

Emphasizing the importance of embracing innovation in the tourism sector, the Minister noted that the refurbished seaside resort would significantly enhance Kerala’s reputation as a burgeoning destination for weddings and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism.

He further stated that Kerala’s picturesque locales, ideal for promoting destination weddings, with the government striving to create top-notch facilities for this segment.

In his address, Mr. P K Sasi, KTDC Chairman revealed that the third phase of renovation included refurbishing 40 rooms in line with modern aesthetic concepts. Additionally, plans are in place to renovate 24 more rooms in the next phase.

Welcoming the attendees, Ms. Sikha Surendran IAS, KTDC Managing Director reiterated the corporation’s commitment to providing world-class hospitality experiences.

Nestled amidst lush coconut tree-lined landscapes overlooking the Arabian Sea, Samudra Kovalam has long epitomized Kerala’s successful beach tourism.

The latest round of renovations, completed within a budget of Rs 12.68 crores provided by the state government, has transformed the property into an ideal venue for upscale weddings and MICE tourism.

The G V Raja Convention Centre, a key feature of the resort, has been enhanced to create a more appealing ambiance, making it an ideal choice for weddings and conferences.

All rooms in the resort offer sea-facing views, and the property now boasts luxurious options such as Sea View Cottages, Superior Sea View, and Premium Pool View rooms, along with a relaxing lawn area for guests.

The resort’s cozy restaurant, set to be completed by March, will offer a diverse menu, including local cuisine.

The renovation also includes improvements such as an AC plant, ambient lighting, electrical upgrades, and an upgraded approach road.
