The Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (IHCL), a Tata enterprise, has announced the promotion of Mr. Nikin Malayath as the Area General Manager of Ginger Hotels for the Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh regions.
Mr. Nikin began his career with IHCL in December 2014 as Assistant Hotel Manager at Ginger Trivandrum. Over the years, he has played a pivotal role in expanding and streamlining operations across Kerala and Karnataka, eventually taking charge as Cluster Manager. Under his leadership, the brand has witnessed growth in guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and revenue generation.
With over 19 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Nikin has demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic insight, and the ability to build and guide high-performing teams. His attention to detail, innovative thinking, and passion for excellence have been instrumental to his professional success.
A native of Nilambur, Mr. Nikin is an alumnus of CMS College of Science and Commerce, Coimbatore, where he completed his degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. He began his career as a faculty member in hospitality before moving into hotel operations, starting at Le Méridien Kochi (2005), followed by stints at The Leela Kempinski Kovalam (2006) and Dream Hotel Kochi (2009), before joining the IHCL portfolio.
Mr. Nikin is the second son of India’s renowned magician duo – Mr. R.K. Malayath and Ms. Nirmala Malayath, the country’s first professional woman magician. Trained in magic from an early age, Nikin was once known as India’s youngest professional magician.
He gained national attention at age 10 for performing a blindfold motorcycle ride on World Tourism Day in 1996 at Gudalur, Nilgiris (Tamil Nadu), organized by the Nilgiri Tourism Promotion Council. The daring act aimed to promote tourism awareness and narrowly escaped a collision with a reckless jeep driver.
Mr. Nikin is married to Dr. Neethu Nikin Malayath, a respected Ayurveda physician. The couple has a daughter, Nia Nikin Malayath. Outside of work, Nikin is an adventure enthusiast with a passion for long-distance motorcycle travel.
