Prabhav Joshi, IAS, Appointed to Lead Gujarat Tourism
In a significant administrative move by the Government of Gujarat, Mr. Prabhav Joshi, IAS, a distinguished 2014-batch officer of the Gujarat cadre, has officially taken charge as the Managing Director of the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd. (TCGL) and Director, Gujarat Tourism. This pivotal appointment comes at a time of ambitious growth for the state’s tourism sector.
Joshi brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having most recently served with distinction as the Collector of Rajkot. During his tenure there, his dynamic leadership and innovative public service initiatives, particularly in inclusive development and youth empowerment, earned widespread commendation. He spearheaded the transformation of six government land parcels into multipurpose sports complexes, significantly boosting opportunities for rural youth in various sports, including traditional games like kho-kho. Furthermore, he initiated crucial tourism development projects, focusing on improving accessibility to lesser-known heritage sites under the Archaeological Survey of India.
An alumnus of the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering, Joshi’s career has been marked by academic brilliance and administrative versatility. His prior impactful roles in Gujarat include District Development Officer in Kutch, Sup. Assistant Collector of Surendranagar, MD of Gujarat State Medical Services Corporation, and MD of Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. Hailing from Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, his commitment to people-centric governance has been a consistent theme throughout his career.
Joshi’s leadership at Gujarat Tourism begins at a crucial juncture. The state is currently making significant investments in experiential tourism, with a strong focus on heritage circuits, spiritual trails, eco-tourism projects, and tribal cultural promotion.
