FICCI Strengthens Tourism Leadership to Elevate India’s Global Inbound Presence
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has appointed Mr. Ravi Gosain, President of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), as Chair of the FICCI Inbound Tourism Committee, a strategic sub-committee operating under the National FICCI Tourism Committee.
The appointment recognizes Mr. Gosain’s substantial contributions to the Indian tourism industry and his demonstrated leadership in advancing the inbound travel sector. As President of IATO, one of India’s premier tourism trade associations, Mr. Gosain has been instrumental in shaping policy discourse and driving initiatives that promote India as a compelling destination for international travelers.
The FICCI Inbound Tourism Committee plays a critical role in formulating industry strategies, facilitating dialogue between private sector stakeholders and government bodies, and advocating for policies that enhance India’s competitiveness in the global tourism marketplace. Under Mr. Gosain’s leadership, the committee is expected to accelerate efforts toward sustainable growth and strategic market positioning.
Accepting his new role, Mr. Gosain expressed both gratitude and determination to advance India’s tourism agenda. “India’s inbound tourism is entering a transformative phase, and this role provides a valuable opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders and government stakeholders to accelerate sustainable and globally competitive growth,” he stated. “I look forward to contributing meaningfully to the Committee’s initiatives and working collectively to strengthen India’s appeal as a preferred global tourism destination.”
Mr. Gosain brings extensive experience in tourism operations, destination marketing, and industry advocacy to his new position. His tenure as IATO President has been marked by proactive engagement with policymakers, efforts to modernize tourism infrastructure, and initiatives aimed at improving the visitor experience across India’s diverse tourism offerings. His appointment signals FICCI’s commitment to placing experienced industry practitioners at the helm of critical strategic committees.
The inbound tourism sector represents a significant economic opportunity for India, contributing substantially to foreign exchange earnings, employment generation, and regional development. However, the sector also faces challenges including infrastructure constraints, regulatory complexities, and intense competition from neighboring destinations. The FICCI Inbound Tourism Committee, under Mr. Gosain’s chairmanship, will focus on addressing these challenges while capitalizing on India’s rich cultural heritage, natural diversity, and improving connectivity.
With this appointment, FICCI aims to strengthen industry-led initiatives that foster innovation, enable effective international outreach, and support comprehensive long-term strategic planning for India’s inbound tourism sector. The committee will work to enhance coordination between various stakeholders, promote best practices, and create an enabling environment for sustainable tourism development.
Mr. Gosain’s dual role as IATO President and FICCI Inbound Tourism Committee Chair positions him uniquely to bridge operational realities with strategic policy formulation, ensuring that industry perspectives inform national-level tourism planning and execution.
As India seeks to reclaim and exceed pre-pandemic tourism levels while positioning itself for future growth, leadership appointments such as Mr. Gosain’s reflect the importance of experienced, collaborative, and forward-thinking approaches to destination development and marketing.
The appointment comes at a crucial time when India is intensifying efforts to attract international visitors, diversify its source markets, and establish itself as a year-round, multi-experience destination capable of competing with established Asian tourism powerhouses.
