The unique celebration of a resort, which started 50 years ago at Kovalam wasn’t just a celebration of a stunning resort’s 50th birthday or a magnificent destination. It was a celebration of hope, love, and the power of dreams. As part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Leela Raviz Kovalam, the first luxury resort of Kerala- God’s Own Country, Dr. B. Ravi Pillai, Chairman of R.P. Group has instituted a scholarship of one crore rupees for the 10th and 12th students in Kerala. Mr. V. Shivankutty, Minister for Education and Labour, Government of Kerala inaugurated the function held at Nishagandhi Auditorium, Kanakakunnu Palace in Thiruvananthapuram on July 24, 2023.
Mr. V. Shivankutty said that through this type of initiative and such scholarships, it will be possible to give more strength to the public education campaign in the country. The Scholarship instituted by the RP group is a purse of Rs 10,000 each for 1,000 students from government schools in the Thiruvananthapuram district who have scored well in the 10th-grade examination. Along with the scholarship, fruit tree saplings were also presented to the winners.
Mr. Katakampally Surendran MLA, Mr. M.Vincent MLA, Mr. V.K.Prasanth MLA, Mr. I.B.Sathish MLA, Mr. K.Ansalan MLA, Mr. M. Nizamuddin, Councilor, Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, Mr. V.V. Rajesh, Thiruvananthapuram District President of BJP and Mr. SN Raghuchandran Nair, President of Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce and Industry and others were present during the function.
.Mr. Asish Nair, Vice President, Corporate Affairs of RP group and head of the Raviz Hotels and Resorts said that the golden jubilee of The Leela Raviz Kovalam became an indelible chapter in the tale of a man whose heart was as expansive as the vast ocean embracing the shores of Kovalam, and whose generosity would forever illuminate the paths of those he touched.
At the helm of this magnificent endeavor stood the venerable “Dr. B Ravi Pillai, our esteemed Chairman, with a grand vision that transcended the festivities. With a profound commitment to society, he took a momentous step by pledging a generous scholarship of One-crore Indian Rupees to a thousand meritorious students hailing from government schools in the district of Thiruvananthapuram. These exceptional young minds, having successfully triumphed in their SSLC examinations, would now have the opportunity to soar higher on the wings of education and dreams. Such a benevolent choice was guided by the Chairman’s unwavering devotion to inclusivity and a belief in uplifting the lives of those deserving souls who often stand at the fringes”.
Alas, the Chairman’s unavoidable and pressing business obligations prevented his physical presence at this grand occasion. Nevertheless, his profound vision and heartfelt message were imparted through a beautifully crafted missive, resonating with all those present, and echoing his cherished dream for a brighter future. he said.
Our Chairman recalled his life journey, which had started in the same year 1972, five decades ago with struggles and challenges. He is aware of the pivotal role of support, both divine and external, played in one’s path toward success through hard work and he wanted to extend a helping hand to the young students whose dreams and aspirations could lay the foundation for a brighter future for our beloved nation. He added.
He also added that, when the SSLC results were declared in mid-May, the Raviz team acted swiftly to organize the scholarship distribution ceremony at the prestigious Nishagandhi Auditorium. With unwavering faith in the integrity of the school headmasters’ selection process, there was no need for further verification. The responsibility to choose the deserving recipients was entrusted to them, ensuring that the scholarships reached the right hands.
800 students were chosen for phase one, each receiving a scholarship of INR 10,000, fulfilling Dr. Pillai’s wish to the best of their abilities. The event was filled with pride and gratitude as the students, parents, and teachers felt deeply honored. The dignitaries and guests who attended the event too were like one big family. Throughout the event, the Leela Raviz team displayed utmost dedication and warmth, making every attendee feel like a cherished guest.
The RP Group also conducted a function at Kochi, on August 4, as part of Dr. Ravi Pillai’s education scholarship of Rs.1 crore to distribute the scholarship to the children of the members of the Tourism Professionals Club Kochi. Ms. Sridevi N, Master Christopher Wilson, Ms. Pooja Praveen, Ms. Geetanjali Vinesh, Ms. Neeraja S Pai, and Master E.D. Navodad are eligible candidates for a scholarship of ten thousand rupees.
Mr. Ratheesh R Nath, Secretary of Tourism Professional Club Kochi, Ms. Archana Ravi Malayalam Film star, Ravis Hotels and Resorts representatives Mr. Rohit Kootatan, Mr. Sarath M.S., Mr. Rajeev Sasidharan, Me. Geo Puthen, Mr. Rasheed Patel, Mr. C. Jithin, and Mr. V.S. Jiju were also present.
