The Residency Towers Chennai is currently hosting a special Singapore Food Festival at The SKY – Curated Asian Dining, located on the 20th floor. The event, which began on August 9 in commemoration of Singapore National Day, has been met with such an enthusiastic response that its original run, slated to end on August 10, has been extended until August 17.

Food enthusiasts in Chennai are flocking to the hotel to experience a vibrant celebration of Malay, Chinese, Eurasian, Indian, and Peranakan cuisine. The festival is a collaboration with Chef Sowmiya Venkatesan, a Master-Chef Singapore Season 1 finalist, who has meticulously curated a menu that showcases the rich culinary tapestry of the island nation.
Commenting on the collaboration, Chef Sowmiya commented I have always championed Indian cuisine in Singapore – celebrating biodiversity and sustainability through local produce. It feels incredibly fulfilling and is an honor to come full circle by representing Singapore and showcasing its Indian, Malay, Chinese, Peranakan and Eurasian cuisines in India. ‘A taste of Singapore is a celebration of migration, adaptation and community – culinarily expressed, where diversity is our main ingredient.

Diners can embark on an authentic culinary journey with dishes like Rojak, a unique salad with a sweet potato-based dressing, and savory Epok Epok (curry puffs). The menu also features other popular delicacies, including the grilled fish cake Otak Otak, the Peranakan dishes Pang Susie and Prawn Bastador, and the steamed rice dimsum Chwee Kueh.
According to Mr. Ajeeth Janardhanan, Culinary Director, The Residency Group of Hotels, the festival is a homage to Singapore’s multicultural culinary scene, with each dish telling a story of heritage and unity. The overwhelming interest from diners has made the festival a resounding success, allowing more people to savor the authentic flavors of Singapore.
