Thomas Cook (India) Limited has strategically expanded its network in Kerala by opening its first branch in Thodupuzha. This addition enhances the company’s foreign exchange presence in the state to 14 outlets, which includes a counter at Cochin International Airport. Thodupuzha, the largest town in Kerala’s Idukki District, represents a key emerging market for Thomas Cook. The new branch was officially opened by Mr. Dean Kuriakose, Member of Parliament, Idukki Constituency, with Thomas Cook officials also in attendance.
Situated approximately 50 km from both Cochin International Airport and Kochi’s SmartCity/Infopark, Thodupuzha is seen as a natural extension of Kerala’s burgeoning tech corridor. Its planned transition into a municipal corporation and ongoing infrastructure development highlight its potential as a high-growth market. Thomas Cook’s new Thodupuzha branch aims to capitalize on this significant opportunity while also serving nearby areas such as Pala, Muvattupuzha, Perumbavoor, and Thekkady, a prominent wildlife tourism destination.
The Thodupuzha branch will cater to a wide range of customers, focusing on remittances from students and residents sending money abroad for family support, as well as the expanding international leisure travel market. Furthermore, demand for foreign currency and forex cards is expected to rise due to increasing outbound travel from the region.
