Emirates Places US$38 Billion Order for 65 Boeing 777-9s, Strengthening Its Position as the World’s Largest 777 Operator
Emirates has announced one of the largest widebody aircraft commitments in aviation this year, placing an order for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft powered by GE9X engines. Valued at US$ 38 billion at list prices, the deal was unveiled on the opening day of Dubai Airshow 2025, further cementing the airline’s long-standing partnership with Boeing and GE Aerospace.
The latest order brings Emirates’ total aircraft commitments with Boeing to 315 widebody jets, which include 270 Boeing 777X aircraft, 10 Boeing 777 freighters and 35 Boeing 787s. With the new agreement, Emirates’ total order of GE9X engines now reaches 540 units, strengthening its position as the world’s largest customer of the advanced powerplant. The long-term investment represents significant support for the US aerospace manufacturing ecosystem, with the programme sustaining hundreds of thousands of high-value jobs across multiple states.
Crucially, the agreement includes options for Emirates to convert part of its new 777-9 order into either the Boeing 777-8 or the proposed Boeing 777-10, offering strong backing for Boeing’s ongoing feasibility study for the 777-10 – a higher-capacity variant designed to meet surging global air traffic demand

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, said the airline’s latest commitment reinforces its strategy of operating a young, modern, and efficient fleet. “Emirates is already the world’s largest Boeing 777 operator and we are expanding our commitment to the programme today with additional orders worth US$ 38 billion. This is a long-term investment and a testament to our deep partnership with Boeing and GE, and to the strength of US aerospace,” he said.
He added that every aircraft in the order has been aligned with Dubai’s ambitious growth plans and Emirates’ future expansion strategy. “We look forward to receiving our first 777-9s from the second quarter of 2027 and equipping our latest aircraft with industry-leading onboard products,” he said. Sheikh Ahmed also reiterated the airline’s support for the development of larger-capacity aircraft. “With projected air traffic growth and capacity constraints at major airports, Emirates supports Boeing’s study of the 777-10 and has secured options to convert our 777-9 orders accordingly.”

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said Boeing is honoured by Emirates’ continued trust. “Emirates has grown into one of the world’s leading carriers with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We look forward to building on our 40-year partnership and supporting their operations for decades to come,” she said.
Russell Stokes, President & CEO of Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace, noted that the additional GE9X order reflects Emirates’ confidence in GE’s technology and service capabilities. “As the world’s largest customer for GE90 and GP7200 engines, Emirates continues to place its trust in our next-generation solutions. We are committed to supporting their future operations with the durability and efficiency of the GE9X,” he said.

Across its 40-year history, Emirates has operated every variant of the Boeing 777 family and today flies the world’s largest 777 fleet. Its 119 Boeing 777-300ERs, 10 Boeing 777-200LRs, and 11 Boeing 777 freighters connect Dubai to over 140 cities worldwide, driving tourism, trade, and economic growth across six continents.
With this latest order, Emirates will receive Boeing aircraft deliveries until 2038, extending a long-term partnership that supports thousands of skilled workers involved in manufacturing and assembling the 777X and GE9X engines across the United States, including facilities in Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, and Washington.
As of 17 November 2025, Emirates’ total fleet stands at 269 aircraft, with 367 more on order — underscoring the airline’s commitment to maintaining one of the world’s most modern and efficient fleets as it prepares for the next phase of global aviation growth.
