Air India and All Nippon Airways (ANA) have sealed a codeshare agreement, linking their flight networks. This strategic alliance aims to enhance travel options for passengers of both airlines, facilitating seamless journeys between India and Japan. Effective from 23 May 2024, travellers flying with Air India or ANA will be able to access a wider range of destinations with a single ticket, benefiting from the convenience of combined flights.
Under this agreement, Air India will integrate its ‘AI’ designator code on ANA’s flights between Tokyo Haneda and Delhi, as well as Tokyo Narita and Mumbai. Simultaneously, ANA will feature its ‘NH’ designator code on Air India’s flights connecting Tokyo Narita and Delhi. Passengers on codeshare flights will enjoy premium services such as lounge access and priority boarding, consistent with the offerings of Star Alliance for its premium members.
Tickets for codeshare flights will be available for purchase starting 23 April 2024, through the respective websites of Air India (www.airindia.com) and ANA (www.ana.co.jp), as well as through reservation systems and travel agencies. Both airlines are also exploring opportunities to extend their collaboration to additional routes in the future.
Mr. Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer at Air India, expressed the significance of this collaboration, emphasizing its role in fostering stronger ties between India and Japan. He highlighted the expanded network connectivity and increased flight options as key benefits for travellers.
Mr Katsuya Goto, a Member of the Board and Executive Vice President of Alliances and International Affairs at ANA, echoed Aggarwal’s sentiments, underscoring the commitment to enhancing air connectivity and customer experience between Japan and India. Goto expressed optimism that this partnership would contribute to a seamless travel environment between the two nations.
