It’s a significant development in the aviation industry. After 27 years of service, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, who has been serving as the Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways Group, will step down from his position on November 5, 2023. He will be succeeded by Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, who will take on the role of Group Chief Executive for Qatar Airways.

The airline has received the prestigious “World’s Best Airline” award an unprecedented seven times. Additionally, Hamad International Airport, managed and operated by Qatar Airways, has been named the “World’s Best Airport.”

In 2023, Qatar Airways received multiple awards, including the “World’s Best Business Class” for the tenth time at the World Airline Awards, organized by Skytrax. The airline also won accolades for “Best Airline in the Middle East,” “World’s Best Business Class Lounge,” and “World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining” at the 2023 Paris Air Show. Qatar Airways has been voted as the “World’s Best Airline” by Skytrax seven times, in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2022.
Qatar Airways serves more than 160 destinations worldwide, connecting through its hub at Hamad International Airport, which has consistently been recognized by Skytrax as the “World’s Best Airport.” In 2021 and 2022, the airport received this prestigious award. In 2023, Hamad International Airport was ranked as the second-best airport in the world and also received the “Best Airport in the Middle East” award for the ninth consecutive time, as well as “World’s Best Airport Shopping.”
