Mr. M.R. Synrem, a dedicated IAS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya Cadre, belonging to the 2002 Batch, has taken on the role of Managing Director at the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC). In addition to this new responsibility, he continues to serve as Joint Secretary and Additional Director General in the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
Throughout his illustrious career, Sh. Synrem has held pivotal positions, including Secretary in the Health & Family Welfare Department, Mission Director of the Meghalaya State National Health Mission, and CEO of the Megha Health Insurance Scheme in Meghalaya.
Over the span of two decades, he has consistently demonstrated remarkable administrative expertise, leading various projects, schemes, and initiatives across multiple departments in his parent cadre, such as the Information Technology & Communications Department, the Transport Department, the Urban Affairs Department, the Commerce & Industries Department, and more.
ITDC, established in 1966, carries a mission to enhance and develop tourism infrastructure across the country. The Corporation has continually made strides in advancing tourism, growth, and the provision of world-class services and amenities to its guests. Beyond its core hotel operations, ITDC has expanded into non-hotel sectors, offering services like ticketing, tours and travels, event management, duty-free shopping, publicity, printing consultancy, engineering consultancy, sound and light shows, hospitality education, and skill development, all under one roof.
