Qantas Group Australia takes delivery of its first Airbus A220

Distinguished by a unique livery inspired by Aboriginal artwork, the A220 is set to embark on its delivery journey from the Airbus final assembly line in Mirabel to Sydney. En route, it will make stops in Vancouver, Honolulu, and Nadi.

The A220’s introduction is part of QantasLink’s strategic fleet renewal, gradually replacing the existing 717 fleet. With the capability to cover twice the distance, the A220 facilitates non-stop connections between any two points in Australia. Moreover, it boasts a remarkable 25% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to its predecessors.

Passengers can expect an elevated travel experience with the A220, featuring the largest cabin, seats, and windows in its class. The two-class layout accommodates a total of 137 seats, with 10 in business class and 127 in economy.

Tailored for the 100-150 seat segment, the A220 stands out as the most modern airliner in its size category. Its cutting-edge Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engines enable non-stop flights covering up to 3,450 nautical miles or 6,390 kilometers.

Highlighting Airbus’s commitment to sustainability, the A220 can already operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), aligning with Airbus’s goal of achieving 100% SAF capability for all its aircraft by 2030.

With a robust demand reflected in close to 850 orders from 30 customers, and over 300 deliveries worldwide, the A220 continues to redefine regional air travel.
