A significant step towards developing the Junnar Eco Heritage Circuit was taken with a Joint Forest Management Committee meeting organized by the Junnar Forest Division at the Shivneri Complex. The initiative aims to promote sustainable tourism through active community participation by connecting Junnar’s rich historical, cultural, and natural attractions into a well-planned tourism circuit.


The meeting commenced with opening remarks by Deputy Conservator of Forests Mr. Prashant Khade, who highlighted the importance of involving local communities in tourism development. DMO Chairman Mr. Chetan Parkhe presented the vision for the Eco Heritage Circuit and emphasized the collaborative role of the Forest Department, Tourism Department, and DMO in achieving this goal. A concept film showcasing the proposed circuit, developed by the DMO, was also presented to participants.
Director of Maharashtra Tourism Mr. Mangesh Joshi IAS briefed attendees on various government tourism initiatives, including the upcoming Maha Atithi Homestay Portal, and reaffirmed the Tourism Department’s support for the Junnar Eco Heritage Circuit. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Bharat Langhi, Deputy Director, Pune Tourism Department, and Mrs. Smita Rajhans, Assistant Conservator of Forests. Mr. Kiran Lohokare guided participants through the tourism development survey and discussions on local community participation, while Mr. Chaitanya Kamble, Range Forest Officer, Otur, delivered the vote of thanks to conclude the meeting.
